As a production/stage manager, he has been involved in well over 100 productions. From 2006 to 2010, he served as Production Manager for Jubilee Theatre, assisting Artistic Director Edward G. Smith in selecting and implementing seasons and curating concerts. He is also an accomplished Director with numerous awards to his credit, including the Best Musical award for the vaudevillian-inspired classic, One Mo’ Time. Tyrone has enjoyed entertaining audiences, as an actor, in DFW, New York, Arizona, and North Carolina. Some of his favorite roles are Turnbo in Jitney, Big T in Thruway Diaries, Donald in You Can’t Take It with You, Bobo in A Raisin In The Sun, The Lion in The Wiz, and Felix in Cabaret. He won the 2023 Irma P. Hall Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in American Son at Theatre Arlington.

While actively working as an entrepreneur and arts administrator, he also continued to advocate for change in his community and Fort Worth as a whole. That advocacy led him to be one of the front-runners in the 2021 race for the District 8 City Council seat and to form his own nonprofit, Healing Fort Worth. Tyrone King intends to indefinitely continue his life’s passion for promoting the arts and uplifting the community.
