Ms. Opal Lee: Grandmother of Juneteenth
Ms. Opal Lee is known as The Grandmother of Juneteenth, her passionate journey successfully led to Juneteenth becoming a federally-recognized holiday. This special presentation is an in-depth conversation with Ms. Lee discussing her life, legacy and hopes for the future. Ms. Lee continues making her mark on the community of North Texas and beyond through countless initiatives, organizations and soon a new museum in the Near Southside neighborhood of Fort Worth. Students in middle and high school will learn history woven through stories as told by one of Fort Worth’s most treasured heroes.
